  • Working on Posting This Silly Blog…..

Not much going on here. The Christmas cactus is blooming like mad. Really, it’s full of blooms and there’s more buds coming on. The thing is unstoppable!

I’m getting ready to go to my parents’ to help with
Dad’s knee replacement in mid-February. Not that I’m doing the surgery, though that would be neat to see, but will help with care, driving, etc. For those who don’t know, my mother has cognitive disease. It’s not severe, but has noticeably become more pronounced since her sister, Sarah, died a couple of months ago. Stress will do that.

The trees are covered with ice. We still have electricity though.

Bird flu is closing in, with birds and flocks affected from Richmond to my home county, Queen Anne, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Bing’s been doing the shopping so I’ve not seen the prices or empty shelves. I hear Costco, I might go there today, is selling out of toilet paper, eggs, canned goods, etc. due to tariff fears.

Still missing following folks on Face Book, but I feel good with my decision to leave it. I’m not yet finished with finding replacement admins for some of the textile studies groups I started. Will work on that today.

I downloaded the Fox News app on my phone so that I could compare the headlines, verbiage, topics, etc with The New York Times and the Washington Post (will not resubscribe to the Wash. Post due to political compliance, but I’m continuing to use Amazon. They’re both owned by Bezos. There’s only so much protest pain I can take.). Anyway, back to what I saw on Fox News. It’s interesting. Inflammatory rhetoric, photo selections/video editing that make some folks look ridiculous and others heroic. It’s appalling. But, what do you expect from a network that admitted in court that they skew their stories to appeal to their intended audience? Oh my gosh, and look at the advertisements!!!

I highly recommend downloading the Fox News app and compare just the headlines and topics with headlines/topics from a Pulitzer-prize-winning newspaper/organization. It’s just too horrifying, but it was enlightening. I could handle it for only a few days and I deleted it yesterday. It reminded me of the last Harry Potter book in which carrying around a locket with part of Voldemort’s soul brought darkness to the mind of whoever carried it.

But I didn’t put the Fox News app in with the news apps collection. I put it in my “amusement” collection with the puzzles and games.

It made me feel better. 😉
